BMWs i3 and VWs e-up drifted almost unnoticed into German showrooms

Decembers widely expected electric car registration rush was notable mainly for its absence, thanks to a markedly lower than expected splash from BMWs all-new i3 and VWs equally new e-up.


Germanys electric car market, which was generally expected to end on a high, clearly ended instead with a whimper.

Electric car registered in Germany during December


Just 462 electric cars were registered that month, of which 90 were attributable to BMWs all new i3.

Volkswagens all-electric e-up, which also made its German domestic dealer debut in November, appears to have slipped almost unnoticed into Volkswagens German dealerships
