China’s market for inexpensive small cars with few frills
may have suffered the biggest setback so far, but the sector
directly above – the mainstream Small-Sector car segment -
has also taken some knocks, albeit on a lesser scale. That’s born out by latest car sales numbers. First quarter demand for the overall market may have risen 3.4 per cent, but sales of Small-Sector cars during the same period shrank by almost 1 per cent, after falling almost three times faster during March itself.
