Popularity of frugal diesel cars is still rising,
hits 55.3% - highest ever 1st quarter level -
With Europe’s vulnerable economies gripped
once more by a downturn, and fuel-pump
prices soaring into record orbit, fuel-sipping
diesel cars are suddenly getting a lot more
attention from fuel-economy conscious
consumers, while pricey hybrids appear to be
going nowhere in particular 55.3%
With recession wary Europeans now looking at all
aspects of their much tighter household budgets, the
fact that today’s diesel cars are up to a third more
fuel efficient than their
petrol-powered equivalents has
certainly turned into a major selling point to Europe’s
otherwise shrinking number of willing new car buyers
