Europe’s car sales slide worsens |

An already anxious autoindustry received yet another
shock this week with news that May saw the 8th
consecutive monthly decline in new car sales, with
sales literally tumbling off a
cliff in all but one market. Almost halfway through the current year, following a steady and unrelenting acceleration in the rate of decline, West Europe’s new car sales to May already trail last year’s corresponding 5-months levels by 8 per cent. -8%
ACEA compiled figures reveal that May car sales in
Germany, widely seen as a bellwether for the health
and underlying direction of
Europe’s new car market, were
unexpectedly poor.
