![]() Toyota, which was effectively the first carmaker to pioneer and popularise petrol-electric hybrids with its volume manufactured Prius, and since then has made this expanding global market almost its own, is evidently hoping for yet another bite of the cherry with a new three-row 7-seater People-carrier derivative of its already hugely successful 5-seater Prius. Moreover, Toyota’s Prius Plus is about to be joined by the equally new Prius Plug-in, effectively representing a midway position between pure electric cars and today’s greatly matured petrol-hybrid technology Appropriately named Prius +, deliberately styled just like the instantly recognisable 5-door version on which it is based, boast a stretched wheelbase and three rows of forward-facing seats. It is aimed foremost at green thinking larger than average families. Unlike its 5-seater bloodbrother, Toyota’s new 7-seater Prius + comes as standard with a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack. |
