First half sales of plug-in cars, dominated by the otherwise unknown Bluecar rental specials, just reached a trifling 2,271 units, accounting for 0.2 per cent of the cars sold in France so far this year.

Shedding light on the motive to boost the electric car subsidy to €7,000, first-time domestic electric car registrations of Renault, which portrayed itself as the torch-carrying electric car pioneer in Europe, just registered a microscopic 125 of its electric cars on home soil so far.
