 For anyone with a vested interest in the underlying health of Europe’s electric car market January’s turnout was at best a mild encouragement. But those without a vested interest probably take the view that Europe’s electric car story makes good theatre, but in the cold light of day it’s still much ado about nothing. The good news for the electric car industry is that the current year kicked off with an outwardly heart-warming 66.6 per cent jump in January’s West European electric car registrations. The not so good news is that January’s two-thirds jump to 5,037 units compares to the ultra low take-up rate seen during the same month last year, when just 3,023 electric cars first took to West Europe’s roads.
