 Renault’s ZOE, thanks in large measure to the ongoing appeal of generous government subsidies for electric cars in domestic France, was not only December’s best-selling electric car in Western Europe. Making it a double victory, ZOE also captured the region’s top-seller crown for the whole of last year, according to AID’s own regular monthly European electric car sales figures Renault’s ZOE, following a strong finish in last year’s French domestic electric car market, where its December registrations ballooned to a towering 1,581 units - half its regional sales - completed last month with just over 3,000 sales in Western Europe. ZOE, after keeping Tesla’s hard-challenging Model S safely at arm’s length, comfortably took the coveted number one position as West Europe’s top-selling electric car in December. Thanks in no small part to the strong rally enjoyed in its domestic December market, ZOE also captured the number one slot for the whole of last year.
