Never before in Germany’s short electric car (BEVs) history has Volkswagen found as many willing home buyers for its BEVs as this August
Buoyed expectedly by VW’s sky-high €11,760 domestic subsidy for anyone willing to scrap an old diesel in exchange for a new e-Golf BEV, Volkswagen’s August electric car sales in Germany zoomed to 539 units, according to official German KBA car registration numbers.
Put into perspective, August’s 539 BEV sales from Volkswagen were twice the number sold at home during any of the past
24 months (2 years).
Pure electric cars, excluding plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) set yet another new milestone.
This August VW-badged BEVs were responsible for more than 1 per cent of all VW car sales in
Germany, according to KBA data.
