Europe’s car sales woes deepen in February
Poor car sales rate after two months point to West Europe’s lowest annual car sales for almost 30 years

As if it weren’t cold enough already.

February new car sales in Western Europe, coming in the wake of an already steeper than feared 8.9 per cent dive in January, took yet another turn for the worse by missing last year’s same month level by a steep 10.3 per cent.

The marked deterioration seen of late is markedly worse than most forecasters believed just over two months ago.

Car sales have now fallen for 17 consecutive months.

The way things are looking at present supports the all too sobering view that this year could be the first time for close on 30-years that West Europe’s car sales fail to reach the 11 million mark
