Aston Martin tossed technology lifeline by Mercedes-Benz

Aston Martin, the UK-based manufacturer of desirable sports cars, and Mercedes-Benz Cars, gave notice of their intention to seal a technology partnership deal, including the future supply of engines. 

Mercedes, best known for its prestige sector cars and the widely acknowledged technological front-runner status of its brand-new S-class flagship, now appears willing to share its future-proof technological know-how and hardware with Britainís Aston Martin.

Thatís chiefly by way of state-of-the-art electric and electronic automotive components and software;
the be-all and end-all of any competitive future car.

Niche-player Aston Martin, clearly lacks the financial fire-power to develop its own future platforms and engines. 

Probably more crucial still, to stay on the ball in the increasingly vital development and application of a carís key electronic architecture, the partnership deal struck with Mercedes allows cost effective access to cutting-edge automotive technology, know-how and hardware. 

Experts in the field wonder whether Aston Martin could survive without such a strong medicine, one adding that ďwithout it Aston Martinís days would surely be numberedĒ, AID was told
