So much so in fact that a small country, long seen as a ‘treasure island’ by Germany’s autoindustry bigwigs, currently soaks up more German-made cars than comparative giants like the USA and China Perhaps outwardly startling to even seasoned auto-industry insiders, last year alone Britain became home to some 820,897 German-made cars, according to the VDA, Germany’s auto industry federation. Less surprising, given last year’s near 10 per cent UK car sales growth to a pre-crisis 2.48 million cars, same year German car exports to buoyant UK shores also rose by 7 per cent from an already high 767,024 in the previous year. 50%
