Two months data from the 17 West European markets monitored exclusively by AID every month shows a change in electric car leadership.

VW’s e-Golf, after a market presence of less than a year, took pole position in West Europe’s electric car market.

The so-called e-Golf, with 2,150 regional registration during the opening two months of this year, took the coveted number one slot.

The sector’s previous front-runner, Nissan’s LEAF, a true pioneer in the sector, had to make do with the runner-up slot with a slimmer 1,750 regional sales, according to AID’s exclusively compiled numbers.

But there is more than first meets the eye.

One factors in particular contributed to the victory of VW’s all-electric Golf.
