Electric car sales remain painfully slow; slower even than pessimists had first predicted

West European Electric Car Sales January by market

Hard on the heels of an already deeply disappointing year for the electric car industry, AID’s exclusively compiled figures reveal that a mere 1,746 electric cars first took to West Europe’s roads this January, thus accounting for a slightly improved 0.2 per cent of the region’s shrinking overall passenger car market.

However, January’s outwardly positive note for the industry, with sales rising 27 per cent, ostensibly masks some temporary market distortions.
