 Compared to last year, when global car production rose by some 6 per cent to just over 70m units, AID compiled figures for this year’s first half reveal that global production has barely grown at all, thanks to a rundown of existing stocks Halfway through the current year, global car production only narrowly topped last year’s comparative levels, with AID’s provisional world car production estimates pointing to a sluggish 1.2 per cent growth. That’s just half the rate of global car sales expansion seen in this year’s first half, thus pointing to a continuing rundown of existing stock levels. +1.2% If true, which seems likely, a large chunk of this year’s sales - growing globally by
an estimated 2.8 per cent during the first half - were met from bloated stocks of unsold cars rather than
