Battle lines drawn in intensifying global battle for dominance of profit-rich global prestige car segment to stop or at least slow previously run-away BMW and Audi in their tracks

Times may be tough for some of Europe’s financially struggling volume carmakers, but for Germany’s prestige carmakers, still swept along by healthy ongoing demand for their status-laden chariots in chiefly the US and China, business remains brisk.

Germany’s leading luxury carmakers, who as a group breezed through the still lingering downturn in some of the world’s leading car markets, are still on a roll.

Without a single notable exception, in May, each and every group member reported yet another bumper turnout. 

A measure of their strapping good health, each aristocratic club member posted improved May sales.
