Despite signs that the worst of Europe’s car sales famine may well be over, thus pointing to a bluer horizon during this year’s final quarter, chances are that this year’s regional car sales turnout will still be the lowest for close on two decades.

In pin-sharp contrast Britain’s car market performed excellently over the past year and the outlook for this year continues to be even better.

So much so in fact that the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) has significantly raised its forecast for 2013 new car registrations, predicting back in early August that this year’s sales will reach 2.216 million units, 8.4 per cent up on last year.
