Of these only Italy failed to show a rise in October sales. A gradual strengthening of consumer confidence, allied to rekindled government incentives to scrap higher polluting older cars with a lower CO2 emitting model has spurred a more than one-third jump in Spain’s October new car sales. On the other end of the spectrum, the UK’s car sales may have risen for twenty successive months in a row, but October’s 4 per cent gain marks the first single digit expansion after six months. +4%
