West European truck sales in the 16t GVW and above category rose for the fourth month in October, pointing to an altogether brighter truck sales horizon

The strong and comparatively sudden rebound in sales, directly following a progressively slowing rate of decline during this year�s first and second quarter, shifting into positive territory during the third quarter when sales actually rose 5 per cent, has all the tell-tale hallmarks of a strengthening heavy truck market.

These trends are confidently expected to lead to further growth in this year�s final quarter.

However, there is a sting in the tail, chiefly because the implied strong recovery is not quite what it seems on first sight.
