First signs that a change at the top of Europe's now closely monitored electric car sales chart may be looming on the horizon came from AID’s exclusively compiled car sales figures for January showing that Volkswagen’s e-Golf has already nudged aside Renault’s ZOE, the long-standing number one in the region’s now closely monitored electric car sales chart
This January, more than ever, has turned into a close run race for the coveted lead in West Europe’s electric car sales league.
AID’s own figures reveal that Volkswagen’s e-Golf won January’s electric car sales race in a photo-finish from Renault’s ZOE, with BMW’s steadfast i3 range in third position.
With 1,864 January sales, the Volkswagen e-Golf, taking ZOE’s best shots, has taken West Europe's electric car sales crown, albeit by a paper-thin margin.
Second and third position went to the ZOE and BMW’s i3 range with a respective 1,847 and 1,767 January sales, according to
AID’s exclusively compiled January sales numbers.
